It’s not uncommon to be self-conscious about various imperfections that appear on our bodies. Stretch marks, cellulite, and skin discoloration, to name a few, are all very normal appearances that remind us that we’re alive and well. There’s no such thing as a perfect body, anyway. 


Stretch marks are a part of life that occur frequently during puberty or pregnancy. These marks happen when skin stretches more quickly than it can accommodate, leading essentially to scarred tissue in those areas. Along the same vein, cellulite appears when fat cells increase and push up against the skin. Nearly 80-90% of women have cellulite, which signifies that your body is normal and beautiful. 


Skin discoloration, on the other hand, can happen for a variety of reasons. Nonetheless, it’s important to remember that our bodies will never be all one color, and variation is very common throughout different seasons of life. If you notice a rapid change in color somewhere on your skin, however, we recommend reaching out to a medical professional as soon as possible.

To preserve the delicate skin you’re in, consider implementing some of the following body care routine tips: 

  • Moisturize immediately after the shower while skin is still damp
  • Ditch the piping-hot shower for a lukewarm one to avoid stripping skin of natural oils
  • Pat skin dry with a towel instead of rubbing to avoid unnecessary friction 
  • Drink plenty of water throughout the day to keep skin hydrated
